It has high corrosion resistance and strength, good formability and high temperature ductility in welded structures. It is resistant to strain age cracking problems, which is common for other gamma prime strengthened alloys.

Fabrication and Heat Treatment of Nickel Alloy C263 HASTELLOY® C-263
Nickel alloy C263 can be machined using high speed tools. Care must be taken to ensure a rigid machine setup and sharp tools, in order to prevent work hardening and surface glazing. It has excellent welding characteristics, and can be welded by most of the common welding techniques such as electron beam and resistance welding, gas metal arc welding and inert gas tungsten arc welding. Following this, the alloy is aged for 8 h at 799°C (1470°F) and air cooled.
