Corrosion Resistance:
Incoloy840(S33400) is an austenitic stainless steel containing titanium and aluminum, containing enough chromium to form and maintain chromium oxides of sufficient size to protect it under high temperature conditions, making it more resistant to high temperatures than conventional chromium-nickel stainless steels such as 304; the higher nickel content gives it better oxidation resistance compared to standard 18-8 stainless, and its oxidation resistance is no less than that of higher grades used at temperatures up to Fahrenheit (1038°C). Therefore, 840 (S33400) alloy is an ideal material for the manufacture of electric heaters, automotive emission control systems and other high temperature resistant products.
Application:
Because of its formability, weldability, corrosion resistance and oxidation resistance, Incoloy840 is a common material used for electric heaters, heat exchangers, equipment heaters, industrial heaters and other equipment, and is also commonly used in automotive exhaust systems.
